FellowshipAmountDue Date

There are no current funded PhD positions in SEEL. If you are interested in working with Prof Jones, you can apply for one of these fellowships

While all PhD positions in SEEL are funded, for your professional development, it is suggested that you apply for at least one fellowship per year until you have one. Among things this helps prepare you for:

  • Rejection, “Look myself in the mirror, I say we gon’ win
Knock me down nine times but I get up ten” – Cardi B
  • Acceptance, “Meet with triumph and disaster and treat those two imposters just the same” – Rudyard Kipling
  • Asking for money, “I’m going to get a scholarship to…” Lin-Manuel Miranda
  • Bragging about yourself, “Who you know fresher than Hov” – Jay Z
  • Advocating for yourself, “I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul” – William Earnest Henly
  • Your PhD proposal and dissertation, “Staring at the blank page before you// open up the dirty window// Let the sun illuminate the words that you cannot find…no one else// Can speak the words on your lips” – Natasha Bedingfield

For undergrads interested in applying to Duke for Graduate School in MEMS or CEE, Dr. Jones will gladly help as a mentor on one of these fellowships.
